Here, we explore an area that most people would not visit on their own. We'll also use one-person, inflatable boats (packrafts) to enjoy a scenic float along the Colorado River. These boats are fun, unique and not used by any other company in Moab. During your guided tour, you will not only safely descend a beautiful, water-carved canyon and float a beautiful section of the Colorado River, but you will learn about the flora and fauna, geology and history of the area that we are so lucky to call our backyard.

Desolation Canyon is perhaps our most popular family river vacation. A less-known national treasure, Desolation is one of the most scenic, historic and colorful waterway areas on the western rivers. Its brightly colored formations are monuments to the force of Mother Nature. Wildlife thrives: you may see mule deer, desert bighorn sheep, prairie dogs, or waterfowl and desert birds, along with yucca, sage, numerous cacti and wildflowers. Huge cottonwood trees over untouched beaches offer exquisite campsites. Feel the power of the river pull as your oar or paddle raft drifts along the calmer sections of the Green. Desolation Canyon has an abundant supply of rapids; over 60 overall on this 84-mile trip. The trip includes a scenic charter flight from Moab to the trip's put-in site at Sand Wash.

Although this multi-sport tour does not involve canyoneering (rappelling), it is a route that Desert Highlights' founder created in the late 1990's as a unique and self-supported way to explore wild and remote terrain. A tour of this fashion is not being done by any other company in Moab. This tour combines mountain biking and packrafting in order to explore a section of the Green River that can otherwise only be seen on multi-day rafting trips. We'll ride our bikes down an old mining road to a point along the Green River. Here, we'll blow up our packrafts (that we've been carrying in our backpacks!), strap our bikes down to the front and float down one of the most scenic sections of the Green River Labyrinth Canyon corridor - all in a day's work!

This 120-mile expedition takes you through the renowned Cataract Canyon in Canyonlands National Park. It offers some of the wildest, most exciting whitewater in the country during the months of May, June, and early July, when the spring run-off fills the canyon's watercourse with raging torrents.
